Training and auditions held for next big theatre names

Written byHELEN KREFT

AN academy of performing arts has linked up with a Burton school to find the next theatre actors.

The de Ferrers Academy community department has joined with the Instep Academy of Performing Arts to offer training and the chance to audition for a full scale professional theatre.

Auditions will be held this month for anyone aged between eight and 19-years-old to join Instep Academy’s Youth Musical Theatre Company.

Training is provided by two very highly qualified and experienced teachers in the profession. Many of their previous students are now currently performing in West End musicals or are training in professional colleges in London.

If accepted, the young people will have the opportunity to be part of one full-scale musical per year in a professional theatre with full set, costume, and professional live band.

Training will be given once a week on Thursday from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at The de Ferrers Academy.

During rehearsals, music, choreography and script work will be taught, working towards any forthcoming performance.

For the audition pupils will need to prepare a song to perform from memory. They can bring either sheet music for the pianist to play, or a backing track.

Pupils will also be taught a short dance routine which will be performed in small groups.

Further information is available by phoning 0845 459 1243 or emailing the academy on info@instepacademy.com
