TWO motorists were injured when their cars were involved in a collision which closed a rural road for 90 minutes.
They were hurt when a grey BMW was involved in a crash with a white Citroen Xsara at 5.45am yesterday on the B587 at Stanton by Bridge, near the Ticknall turn.
Derbyshire Police said the BMW driver was taken to hospital by ambulance with cuts, bruises and whiplash after being cut out of his car by firefighters.
The spokesman said the Citroen motorist was ‘walking wounded’ and treated by paramedics at the scene.
Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said fire crews from Melbourne and Derby’s Ascot Drive stations attended after being called out at 5.44am.
The road remained closed by police until the cars were recovered.
Officers also asked Derbyshire County Council’s highways team to clear oil left on the carriageway by the collision.
