THE lead detective overseeing the investigation into Lisa Bennett’s disappearance described it as being ‘complex and long running’.

Detective Inspector Warren Hines spoke to the media as part of a bid to find people who could help piece together the jigsaw of the Winshill woman’s life before she went missing.

However, Det Insp Hines had to admit that work by his officers led him to come to the ‘unavoidable conclusion’ that the 39-year-old was no longer alive.

He said: “I fear that Lisa is no longer with us and that she met her death shortly after she disappeared.

“To date we have found nothing to suggest that Lisa had planned to leave or even that she is still alive.

“Detailed investigation shows that she has not accessed any of her bank accounts, used her phone or claimed any benefits since last May.

“For some time now we have been piecing together Lisa’s last known movements and speaking to friends or associates in a bid to find any clues as to what might have happened to her.

“Lisa’s problems may have made her quite vulnerable and it’s possible that somebody has taken advantage of her because of her problems.

“I would urge anybody who knew Lisa or who has any information about what may have happened to her in those final days to come forward and speak to us. “It’s vitally important that we bring some closure for Lisa’s family.

“Lisa led quite a complex life and we are keen to find out who she was associating with and what she was doing in the days leading up to her disappearance. There are a number of gaps that need to be filled in.”

Det Insp Hines said a 34-year-old man arrested in connection with her disappearance was set to be questioned again today.

He added: “As well as any information around Lisa I would also urge people to cast their mind back to anything that they may have seen as suspicious in these areas in the last eight months.

“Every part of the jigsaw is important, no matter how insignificant it could be – it might be the difference between catching those responsible.”

Anyone with information about Lisa or her whereabouts can call detectives on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
