A 13-YEAR-OLD has had her hair completely shaved off to provide seriously ill children with their own wig.
Shona Millar, of Regent Street, Church Gresley, has also made it her personal mission to show her former bullies that ‘she is not the person they thought she was’ and has also raised more than £1,000 for The Little Princess Trust.
The teenager has since moved to Blessed Robert Sutton Catholic Sports College and will be starting Year Nine today.
Her mother, Sian Davies, said: “She wanted to shave her hair off to donate it to The Little Princess Trust to make a wig for their charity.
“She also wanted to raise money for the charity as it costs them £350 to make each wig and has raised £1,043 in just three months.
“Her Grandad, Bryn Davies, had cancer and she remembers when he had chemotherapy and he lost all of his hair, and the thought of young children going through this from cancer or other illnesses really upset her. He would be so proud of her now.”
Shona had her 19-inch ponytail cut off at Blades Barbers, in Burton, on Saturday.
Miss Davies added: “She has been thinking about it for about seven months after Jessie J did it for Comic Relief.
“I could not shave my hair which makes me more than proud of her
“She is a rebel and knew she would raise more money by having it all shaved off.
“We have raised £1,043 in three months, as I have Tweeted about what she is doing and quite a few celebrities have retweeted. Comedian, Jason Manford, also donated £50.
“I was really emotional when she was having it shaved but it is a brilliant thing she has done.”
