Van driver in court to plead

Written byBY HELEN KREFT

A 55-YEAR-OLD van driver has been charged with driving without due care and attention.

Ivan Watson, of Norfolk Road, Stapenhill, did not attend Burton Magistrates’ Court on Monday to enter a plea to three separate charges.

It is alleged that on June 17 Watson drove an Iveco Luton van in St Peter’s Street, Stapenhill, without due care and attention.

It is also alleged that he failed to stop at the scene of an accident close to the Post Office, in St Peter’s Street, Stapenhill, and that he also failed to report that accident to a police station within 24 hours.

His case has been adjourned until Friday to enable him to attend court or a warrant is issued.

Watson answers unconditional bail.

He has not yet entered a plea to the three charges, and will face magistrates at the Burton courthouse for the case to progress.
