NORTH West Leicestershire residents have been given advice on how to spot rogue traders.
Leicestershire County Council’s trading standards service has teamed up with the Citizens Advice Bureaux to help people identify the practices of rogue traders and then share their experiences.
The county council also wants those affected by rogue traders to volunteer at roadshows to help raise awareness about unfair practices.
Moya Hoult, a Citizens Advice Bureau manager in Leicestershire, said: “Being involved with the road shows is an excellent opportunity to understand the work of a Citizens Advice Bureau and the consumer issues it deals with.
Pam Posnett, Leicestershire County Council’s cabinet member for trading standards, said: “We would love people to volunteer to help spread important messages about rogue trading.
“Volunteers working with local communities will help us to protect the vulnerable, as sadly people are still being ripped-off by unscrupulous traders on the ‘door step’, and in other ways.”
Anyone interested in volunteering for the roadshows should call 01509 221228.
