A NEWLY formed farmers club has already hit the big time by claiming third place in a county-wide speaking competition.
Abbotsholme Young Farmers Club won third place in the County Public Speaking Competition after taking part in three competitions: Junior Public Speaking, 16 and under Speaking, and the Intermediate Brain Trust.
Twelve-year-old Toby Hall, along with Joanna Walker, aged 15, and Rachel Ekstein, aged 13, went onto gain first place in the public speaking competition, in which they had to read a passage from Warhorse. This means they are going to the county competition on March 17.
Toby said of the win and the experience: “I was really nervous but I enjoyed doing the speech very much.”
