PEOPLE are being asked to nominate their fire service champion of 2014 as part of the prestigious More awards.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service is urging people to vote for a member of community who ‘deserves high praise’ and will, if chosen as the winner, be honoured during a ceremony later in the year.

Chief fire officer Peter Dartford (pictured) urged residents to get involved in the ceremony by making a nomination.

He said: “The More awards recognise the outstanding work that members of the service, from firefighters to support staff and Home Fire Risk Check technicians do on a daily basis.

“The majority are voted for internally, however the fire service champion category is special in that members of the public are asked to put people forward who they think have really made a difference to the community they serve.

“We would love to hear from if someone had a good experience and feel that an individual should be commended.”

Nominations can be made online at www.staffordshirefire.gov.uk
