A 22-YEAR-OLD has undergone emergency surgery after his nose was bitten off following a vicious Boxing Day bar brawl.

Another four people were injured following the bar fight which took place at The Rising Sun, in The Green, Willington.

Three men aged 21, 45, and 60-years-old, and a 29-year-old woman also sustained injuries, while the 22-year-old man from Melbourne was taken to hospital for emergency surgery on his nose.

A spokesman for Derbyshire police said: “We were called to the pub at 11.40pm on Boxing Day to reports of a fight.

“A 22-year-old man, from Melbourne, was seriously injured having part of his nose bitten off. He was taken to Burton’s Queen’s Hospital and then transferred to Royal Derby Hospital for surgery in an attempt to reattach it.

“A 21-year-old man, from Willington, and a 60-year-old man both suffered head injuries.

“Two others, a 45-year-old man, from Willington, sustained minor injuries, and a 29-year-old woman, from the Stoke area, was also injured.”

A 24-year-old man, from Willington, has been arrested on suspicion of wounding in connection with the 22-year-old’s serious injuries. A 41-year-old woman, from Etwall, has also been arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm in connection with the 60-year-old man’s injuries.

A spokesman from East Midlands Ambulance Service said: “Our Emergency Operations Centre dispatched a double crewed ambulance and they took a patient to hospital in Burton.”

The pub did not want to comment on the incident but said it was open as normal last night.
