AN RSPCA shelter in Burton in need of a big tidy up, has welcomed a group of npower volunteers who helped out.
The team of 11, led by Toni Hodges, took time out of their work schedules and helped clear the outside area at the RSPCA centre, in Hillfield Lane, Stretton.
The animal shelter, which rehomed more than 650 animals last year, needed the patio relaying, fences painted and the majority of the outside area weeding before their open day this Sunday.
Ms Hodges said, “We had such a fantastic day and the weather was great too. We were able to get all of the work done ready for the open day on Sunday. All of our muscles were aching but it was great when we had finished and being able to see the difference we had made.
”We enjoyed volunteering and being able to give something back to the community is a great feeling.@
Clare McDougall head of community at npower added “Our employees are amazing at doing their bit - everyone in the company is allowed one day a year for fundraising or volunteering for charities and local community groups.”
More than 20 per cent of npower employees volunteer each year.
