CALKE Abbey's trial play space has proved a real hit with children this summer.
The Calke Explore! project boosted the park's appeal during the summer holidays.
A shady area of the Poker Leys woodland was transformed into a temporary play space using natural installations. These included a giant bird's nest, climbing trunks, adventure trails and willow dens.
Visitors could explore woodland and wetland, take part in creative crafts and try out pop-up sports and orienteering.
Calke Explore! is now closed but it is hoped that the abbey will be able to offer visitors a similar parkland play space in future years.
