Olympic high jumper inspires youngsters

AN Olympic high jumper delivered an inspirational talk to youngsters at their school assembly.

Brendan Riley, who competed at the 1992 and 2000 Olympic Games, also visited each class at Belmont Primary School, in Swadlincote.

The school’s deputy head teacher Julie Fern said the visit was part of the school’s ‘be the best you can be project’.

She said: “The children thought he was wonderful and excited he came in.”
