TWO dogs which left a woman ‘traumatised’ following an attack in an East Staffordshire village face being destroyed, unless their owner can prove they are no longer a threat.

Magistrates in Burton warned owner Thomas Alcock that unless a certificate of exemption is obtained for the dogs, which attacked Amanda Valentine and her pet spaniel in Barton under Needwood last year and have subsequently been sold to Ireland, in two months, they will be put down.

Alcock, 22, of Mill Crescent, Barton, who pleaded guilty to three charges of allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control last month, will now have to ensure the dogs meet certain conditions to ensure they don’t pose a danger to the public if they ever enter the UK.

Mrs Valentine was bitten nine times in the attack in May.
