BOATERS looking for an oar-some time on the water are being invited to take part in an inaugural charity dragon boat race.

Swadlincote business, The Pontoon & Dock Company, is now taking team entries of the inaugural race on Sunday, August 17.

The race across Albert Village Lake will see team of 17 paddlers per boat complete a 200 metre course in heats.

It will raise money for Rainbows Children’s Hospice, Help for Heroes and East Midlands Air Ambulance.

Simon Nadin, director at The Pontoon & Dock Company, said: “We are very excited to be holding the first ever Dragon Boat Race and it will be a wonderful opportunity for us to raise funds for the three charities while bringing together our community.

“We have already received a great response from businesses and community groups that have booked their boats and we hope to fill the remaining 11 boats as soon possible”

Anyone interested in entering a team of 17 should email events@pontoonanddock.com for more information.
