MORE than £17,000 has been donated to two major charities by a firm which has its base in Burton.

Palletforce, on Callister Way, collected more than £8,000 each for the Midlands Air Ambulance and the Brain Tumour Charity during a record-breaking fund-raiser which took place at the company's annual general meeting earlier this year.

The money was raised through an auction, with prizes including VIP tickets to watch Il Divo and the Eagles, a signed Andy Murray montage and a signed Sebastian Vettel cap, and a raffle with prizes including a mini iPad and cases of champagne.

It was presented to representatives from the organisations this week.

Sofia Voutianitis, corporate fundraising manager for the Midlands Air Ambulance charity, said: "The company's support has been tremendous and their generous donation will help fund several life-saving missions within the Midlands."

Michael Conroy, chief executive of Palletforce, said: "We are absolutely delighted at the amount raised, although not surprised at the generosity of Palletforce members.

"In a year of record-breaking volumes it is fitting that we went on to break our own record for the amount of money raised for our chosen charities."
