POLICE have responded to complaints about parking problems around William Allitt School saying that although they recognise the problem, it could help to 'save lives'.

The issue was raised at a Safer Neighbourhoods meeting, where locals gave their views on the local policing team and what changes they wanted to see.

The panel of police officers listened to various concerns including speeding and parking issues in the Newhall area and agreed that although the cars caused problems when parking outside William Allit, they also contributed to slowing down the traffic around the school which could potentially save a child's life as they were walking home.
