GOAL hero Matt Paterson would love the chance to fire Burton Albion to the play-off final.

The 23-year-old striker scored a sensational 94th minute winner to beat Plymouth Arygle 1-0 and seal the Brewers’ place in the play-offs last month.

And he would love another opportunity to shine at Valley Parade tonight.

“It’s one of those games in football you want to be involved in,” he said. “It’d probably be the biggest game of my career if I was to play.

“It’s one that you look forward to playing in and are envious of those who get to play.

“I’ve played in League One, the Championship and the biggest game I’ve played in was the FA Cup third round against Manchester United.

“For my career at the moment it’d be a big game to be involved in and I’m looking forward to it.”

When Paterson sank Plymouth, Albion were still in with a chance of going up automatically.

Those hopes virtually ended with a 1-0 defeat at Bradford City before being finally extinguished on the final day of the season.

Paterson, who has been in good goalscoring form, started that game at Bradford – and hopes his performances in recent weeks with earn him a chance of starting.

“As I’ve said many times before, we’ve got a good squad here and the chances I’ve taken of late I feel I’ve done myself no harm at all,” he said.

“I’ve got myself a couple of important goals – the goal against Plymouth secured the play-off place and it was a great feeling.

“Hopefully, I can just repeat that in the play-offs, who knows.”

Former Southampton prospect Paterson has also not ruled out another mad celebration like the one against Plymouth should he net against Bradford.

“It shows the unity and team spirit at the club how everyone got involved,” he said. “If you watch that back you can see people do some crazy things.

“It was a great moment for the team and for me.

“We’d take another last-minute winner against Bradford I think!”
