A PETITION has been launched to save a declining beauty spot in an East Staffordshire village.
Concerned residents in Rolleston are urging people to sign a petition calling for action to stop the lake at Brook Hollows from silting up, and the wildlife from deteriorating further.
The petition, which has been placed at Starbucks newsagents, in Burnside, has already attracted a lot of attention, and organisers are hoping it will demonstrate how strong the desire is for improvement in the village.
It comes after years of campaigning by Rolleston Parish Council to get the water cleared and restore the attractive area to its former glory.
They have called on East Staffordshire Borough Council, which owns the land, to take action to make it safe for people to use.
Meetings are due to take place over the coming weeks with representatives from other organisations, including Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, to discuss the issue.
