Petition plea over pubcos

PUB campaigners have presented a petition signed by more than 44,000 people in a bid to curb the power of pubcos.

The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) handed over the doceument to Business Secretary Vince Cable in London to mount pressure on the Government to act immediately and save Britain’s struggling pubs, e.

CAMRA chairman Colin Valentine says it is now ‘absolutely vital that the Government disarms the ticking time bomb threatening the nation’s pubs’.

He said: “CAMRA is demanding the introduction of a Pubs Watchdog to rule on disputes between licensees and pubcos, plus a guest beer right.”
