YOUNG unemployed people are being encouraged to apply for a new pioneering project.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service has teamed up with The Prince's Trust to launch the 'Team Programme'.

The three-month programme is aimed at people aged 16 to 25 who are not in employment, education or training, and aims to give them the skills and confidence to get into work or training.

There are 15 places on the course, which begins on October 13 and includes a residential week away, a work placement and getting involved in a community project.

The course will take place at Stafford Fire Station in Hydrant Way.

Those wishing to express an interest should email James Hettihewa-Young at j.hettihewa-young@staffordshirefire.gov.uk or call 01785 898532.
