Plan for eight homes in Horninglow set to be approved despite concerns over traffic

A PLAN to build eight homes in Burton is set to be given the nod – despite concerns it could lead to further congestion.

Parish councillors stated their objection to the plan to build the homes on the site of disused garages in Addie Road, Horninglow, believing the arrival of more vehicles in an area, where a new school has recently opened, would only lead to more traffic misery.

But the concerns appear to have fallen on deaf ears, with the development having been given conditional approval by planning chiefs, who insisted it was an 'appropriate' site for new homes.

They have, however, pledged that it will only go ahead if parking is provided along with the housing.

An East Staffordshire Borough Council planning document said: "The application site constitutes part previously developed land and part greenfield land.

"The principle of residential development is therefore considered appropriate."

Cyril Burton, from Horninglow and Eton Parish Council, said: "I think there is a lot more building in this area, with the school (Scientia Academy) and other developments, which will impact on this neighbourhood."
