A few months ago our car was parked in the Coopers Square car park in Burton and when one of us returned to it after a shopping trip there were deep lines scored along both sides of it. The incident was duly reported to the police and the Coopers Square security team. Sadly, nothing more was done and the repairs were too costly to proceed with. The car was not a Mercedes but still meant a great deal to us all. It is a shame that some people have their misfortune brought to the public eye but many more are left by the wayside.

i had my car vandalised, police said,it was my fault for having a nice car, one police-man, once said you had car vandalised so what, what do you expect me to do about it.. it would be a very different matter if the police had their cars scratched or had wing mirrors ripped off, people had witnessed some of the vandalism but police didnt arrest the lad they just said to me he's got ADHD, so we cant do anything to him

My car received two massive scratches to the drivers side door outside my house, never got mentioned in the Burton Mail, though. Could be because mine is an old Fiat and not a Mercedes, though. In all seriousness, always suspect your neighbours, people don't half get funny about other cars in front of their property.

Why wasn't an appeal made when my ford focus was scratched all down one side but a Mercedes is? I work full time, I pay my income tax!

I am surprised about this story. Like many other car owners in Burton, who have had their cars scratched - or worse, when we complained to the police, their attitude was o'dear, do you want a crime number for the insurance ! We have had a windscreen smashed and so many scratches we have lost count, but never any police interest, why now ?
