Police break into car over fears for woman’s safety

POLICE were called to a town centre car park to attend to a woman after concerns were raised for her safety.

The alarm was raised by members of the public after a woman in her late 40s was said to be distressed in a small red car on Sainsbury’s car park, in Union Street, at 9.05am today.

Police officers, who were said to be ‘extremely concenred’ for the woman’s welfare, forced their way into the vehicle in order to get to her.

She was then taken to Burton’s Queen’s Hospital.
