STAFFORDSHIRE Police have confirmed that a police car was in pursuit of suspicious vehicle before being involved in a collision with an ambulance on Wednesday evening.

Officers were chasing a silver Porsche Boxter that failed to stop when asked, after responding to reports of a suspicious vehicle.

The Porsche was lost prior to the police car colliding with a non-emergency private ambulance in Shobnall Street, at the junction of Casey Lane at 9.45pm, which caused the ambulance to overturn and the road to be closed for several hours.

Two police officers and two ambulance staff members suffered minor injuries and were taken to Queen's hospital.

The Porsche in question was later found nearby in Grange Close.

Anyone who saw the vehicle or has CCTV in the area is asked to call Sgt Tyrone Kerr on 101, quoting incident number 735 of July 30.
