Police grants for the vulnerable

POLICE and crime commissioner Alan Charles has stepped in with two separate grants of £10,000 to help Derbyshire Appropriate Adult Service (DAAS) continue its work this year with vulnerable adults and juveniles in police custody.

His grants to Derbyshire County Council match their own funding support and will help to mitigate threats to the service's continuation this financial year.

He said: "This important service was at risk of becoming a victim of the massive budget cuts."
