BOSSES at DERBYSHIRE Police and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service are considering sharing a new headquarters.

Design consultants are currently working with both authorities to develop a more detailed plan which would be cost effective and economically sustainable.

Both organisations currently occupy old buildings which are fragmented with high heating and maintenance costs.

Director of finance for Derbyshire Police Terry Neaves said: “Policing has changed a lot in the last 40 years and we need a building that is fit for purpose.

“We are in the very early planning stages and are looking at a range of options to ensure we have the most suitable and flexible building that meets our changing needs.

“Even in these tough times it is prudent to invest to achieve savings for the future to allow us to deliver the best possible service.”
