A GROUP of former radiography students who trained at Queen's Hospital have nominated their tutors for an award – because of the great experience they had on their placement.
The group, who have now all been taken on by the trust in permanent roles, put Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Queen's, forward for the student placement of the year award in Birmingham City University's student practice awards.
One of the students, Lee Hewitt, said: "The whole team has been so welcoming and has encouraged me from the start. I've been taught the skills I need to learn in order to become a radiographer and couldn't have imagined receiving better training anywhere else."
The awards ceremony took place earlier this month and, though the trust did not win, a spokesman said staff were 'delighted' to be nominated.
