MUSIC-LOVERS from Burton flocked to the Navigation Inn, in Horninglow Road, for its first music and ale festival.

Mayor of East Staffordshire Ron Clarke was on hand to get things underway, officially opening the festival alongside the mayoress, his wife Margaret.

A stage was set up in the beer garden weeks in advance, with local bands from East Staffordshire and South Derbyshire signing up to perform to thirsty guests.

Despite rain falling intermittently throughout the event, it did not dampen anyone's spirits.

Manager Shaun Hallet said: "We had a good selection of bands and singers who gave up their time for the event, so want to say a big thank you to them as well as our staff for making the event possible.

"We also want to thank the community for supporting the event.

"We hope to make it bigger and better next year and get all the pubs throughout Horninglow, such as The Plough, Royal Oak, Victoria Inn and The Crescent involved as well."
