RESIDENTS from a care home have joined a knitting group to display the very best in Easter fashion.

Fifteen residents from Castle Court care home, in Linton Road, Castle Gresley, visited the South Derbyshire Forum’s Bus Park Café, in Swadlincote, for its Easter Bonnet competition and an afternoon of sing-a-longs.

Gill Farrington, chairman of South Derbyshire Forum, said: “Every year we do an Easter Bonnet competition and we invite people from Castle Court care home. Some of its residents come every Wednesday for our Knit and Knatter group.

“We had 38 people attend. They had made their own bonnets and brought them along for the competition which was judged by me.

The winner of the best bonnet went to Castle Court resident, Pat Sharpe.

Mrs Farrington said: “There were only two men that came and he just looked lovely in it. To see the pleasure on the people’s when they win just makes everything worthwhile.”

Mr Sharpe won a basket of Easter eggs donated by the forum.

Organist, Jill Draycott, was also present to entertain the crowds and a buffet was also provided.
