A JOBS boost could be on the cards after it emerged a new retail development could be built on 50,000 sq ft of land in Burton.

Anson Global has approached East Staffordshire Borough Council on behalf of an unnamed company with a view to submitting a planning application in Wellington Road.

As well as retail space, the development would also include a car park with room for 180 vehicles.

A formal application is expected to follow in the near future after an inspection by Peter Bretts Associated found no environmental issues with the plan.

A statement submitted to East Staffordshire Borough Council said: “It is anticipated that an outline planning application will be submitted for up to approximately 50,000 sq ft of bulky goods retail space along with approximately 180 car parking spaces.

“The area surrounding the site is dominated by a number of large industrial and retial building.”
