A BURTON man arrested after two armed robberies has been released without charge.
The Mail reported today that the 20-year-old had been arrested with two other suspects after a stand-off with armed police at a flat in Ash Close, Uttoxeter.
The suspects had been tracked to the flat after raids at Alton’s Grove House post office and Tean’s Co-op store.
The offenders hit the post office at around 6.20pm on Tuesday night and targeted the Co-op, at which they brandished a knife, 20 minutes later.
The two other suspects, have been charged with robbery, attempted robbery and two counts of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
They are Andrew Gregory, 37, of High Street, Uttoxeter, and Kane Johnson, 36, of Ash Close, Uttoxeter.
The pair were yesterday (Thurs) due to appear before magistrates in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “Two men have been charged following the incidents in Alton, Tean and Uttoxeter on Tuesday night.
“The third man arrested, aged 20, has been released from custody without charge.”
