HUNDREDS of pounds was raised at a football match which will go towards helping some of the most vulnerable people in Burton.

Members of the Rotary Club of Bretby raised £420 at the Pirelli Stadium ahead if Burton Albion’s clash with Cheltenham Town.

The money has been donated to the Burton and District YMCA which supports homeless and vulnerable families in the town.

In November, the charity organised a sleepout at the stadium which was attended by a record number of fund-raisers.

A record £25,000 was raised at the event, which takes place every year.

The Burton and District YMCA supports homeless people through its Reconnect centre in James Street.

It also runs a food bank which provides emergency food parcels to those who have fallen on hard times and need support.

The YMCA is one of the largest and oldest youth charities in the world.
