ORGANISERS have thanked participants who laced up their boots and enjoyed a touch rugby tournament.

Enthusiasts gathered to compete but also to introduce visitors and newcomers to the game at Peel Croft, the home of Burton Rugby Football Club, which attracted seven local teams.

Burton 'A' triumphed at the evening's event, while Tamworth won the overall league.

They were joined by two further teams from Burton along with sides from Burntwood and Barton in the competition.

It was hoped the event would get local people involved with the club and the game of rugby in general, with the side acquiring new players as a result.

Touch rugby training sessions are to continue every Monday evening from 7pm to 8pm.

Anyone aged over 15, male or female, is encouraged to get involved.
