BURTON Albion lost ground in the chase for the League Two automatic promotion spots after a 98th-minute goal snatched victory away from them in a 1-1 draw at the Pirelli Stadium today.

Billy Kee got the opening goal from the spot after strike partner Dominic Knowles was brought down by Alan Bennett, but the Dons never gave up, and forced three corners in injury time, with Darren Jones bundling home from the third to rescue a probably-deserved point.

Gary Rowett named an unchanged starting XI, with Ian Sharps still injured and Marcus Holness retaining his place at the back, while Lee Bell also kept his spot in midfield.

Jack Dyer and youngster Liam Slade came onto the bench in place of the injured-again Michael Symes and Chris Hussey, who left the club during the week.

Burton took the lead in the 22nd minute as Zeli Ismail played in Knowles, who cut past one defender before being fouled by Bennett.

Kee missed his last spot-kick, but made no mistake with this one, powering his shot down the middle to record his 13th goal of the season.

Burton had chances to extend their lead in the second half, the best probably falling to Matthew Palmer, who found himself one-on-one after Lee Bell's shot was blocked, but fired straight at Ross Worner.

And that profligacy came back to haunt them as their defence failed to clear from a series of corners, and on the third, Rob Lainton's punch only went as far as Jones, who scrambled it in.

With Fleetwood Town winning, Burton dropped to fifth in League Two, and there is now a three-point gap to the top three of Rochdale, Scunthorpe United and Chesterfield - who all won.
