NEARLY 200 members turned out recently in glorious weather at Branston Golf and Country Club’s magnificent championship course for the annual Captain’s Day competition.
Robert Hardie, club captain, said “Our aim was to attract as many members as possible. This huge turnout demonstrating the support and fellowship for which Branston Club is famous and we managed to get everyone away smoothly in just four hours 20 minutes - a tremendous achievement.”
Branston’s captains Robert Hardie and lady captain Jane Winn spent the day looking after the mass of golfers, serving food and drinks.
Mr Hardie added: “It was a wonderful day and I was thrilled to meet and talk to so many people at our friendly club all of whom now enjoy the superb course cared for by Gavin Robson and his hard working team.”
The par 39 course winner was nineteen handicapped Ben Dade with 43 points followed closely by Simon Lamb. Bec Brookes came in with an impressive 39 points to win the ladies competition. Later, more than 80 people enjoyed a dinner with entertainment by a local band, followed by watching football.
