WILDLIFE expert and television presenter Bill Oddie OBE has officially launched Twycross Zoo’s first-ever photography competition.
This year, Twycross Zoo is celebrating 50 years of being open to the public as well as its role in addressing wildlife conservation issues, education and scientific research. A keen photographer himself, Oddie is a natural choice to launch and judge the zoo’s competition.
He said: “I am delighted to launch Twycross Zoo’s first photography competition which aims to bring wildlife conservation issues into sharp focus. While I’ve been incredibly fortunate to see some of the world’s most exciting wildlife, few people have the chance to film or photograph threatened species such as gorillas or leopards in their natural environment. Photography makes you look at the world in a different way, and this competition offers people a unique opportunity to observe animals and their behaviour at close quarters.”
Further information about the competition, including submission criteria and closing date, is available by visiting the website www.twycrosszoo.org/
