DESPITE a rain soaked weekend, posh frocks, bow ties and dancing shoes were on show at a themed charity event.

‘It’s Showtime Folks, For One Night Only – Branston On Tour’ was held on Saturday at Branston Golf and Country Club, off Fairway, in a bid raise much-needed cash for the Burton Breast Care Fund

Club members took to the dancefloor to show off their dancing skills and raise thousands of pounds for the cause.

Linda Odell, event spokesman, told the Mail: “It has been a fantastic thing to organise and once people got involved, they really loved it and enjoyed it.

“We chose to help the Burton Breast Care Fund as the money goes to do such great things, and we hope that what we collected helps to make a difference.

“Everyone seemed to have fun and all people have to remember is that all the money is going to such a great, local good cause.”

Nine couples who took part in a similar event last year were back to wow the crowds along with professional dancers, pupils from the Pat Miller School of Dance and choir singers from Tutbury.

Early estimates showed that the event was thought to have raised around £10,000.
