KITCHEN staff at a South Derbyshire school are celebrating after retaining their top rating for food hygiene practices.

St Edward's Catholic Primary School, in Newhall Road, Swadlincote, received a surprise inspection by members of South Derbyshire District Council's environmental health team.

The employees took time out from signing Year Six pupils' leaving books to pose for a photograph with their latest certificate.

The environmental health team at South Derbyshire District Council regularly carry out food hygiene inspections at pubs, restaurants, schools and other businesses throughout the district in order to make sure that good hygiene practice is being carried out where food is being served to members of the public, and publishing their findings online for information purposes.
