A TEAM of five staff from Sainsbury’s Local in Branston raised money for Sport Relief by running and cycling nearly 20 miles to three other stores and back.

Jay Green, Louise Dunn, Sue Pirrie and Lee Howard all got on their bikes for the challenge while fitness fanatic Samantha Matthews ran.

They set off from the store on Burton Road, Branston at 10am, stopping at Sainsbury’s Local’s in Derby Turn and Newhall before arriving at Glamorgan Way in Chuch Gresley and heading back.

The event was organised by store manager Tracey Banks and the group have raised around £500 from the challenge and other activities in store.

Samantha told the Mail: “We had originally thought about doing a relay to raise money for Sport Relief.

I then decided that I’d run between the stores, and the others said they would join me on their bikes.”

Jay Green said: “It’s been tough. We set out hoping to try and do it in two hours, which we just about managed, given that we kept stopping for one another to complete it as part of a team.”
