Scheme going well at popular school

A SOUTH Derbyshire school is leading the way in the Football Association’s (FA) new Team Sixteen programme have showcased their young leaders across the county boarder.

The Pingle School, in Swadlincote, has seen the development of the FA’s Team Sixteen programme, an initiative to engage secondary school children in sporting activity outside of normal PE lessons.

The FA’s new football programme is having a real impact in school at lunchtimes with hundreds of pupils involved in organised games.

Dan Brown, head of PE at the school, told the Mail: “Team Sixteen has been a great lunchtime activity for so many of our pupils.

“It is a programme run by young people for young people so Year 11 students are the ones that organise younger pupils to participate in organised football.”
