WORK has carried on as normal at Tatenhill Airfield while three actresses from a Channel 4 soap filmed a top secret storyline.
Mike Shelton, chief executive of the airfield, said staff had known that the famous visitors would be filming for Hollyoaks but had been told to remain tight-lipped over the storyline.
A spokesman for Hollyoaks confirmed that the filming, which began on Wednesday and continued on Thursday, was for a dramatic episode of the soap in which a leading character from the cast dies.
It is speculated that one of the actors involved in this week’s filming will meet a bloody end during the episode filmed at Tatenhill. It is understood that in the episode being filmed, characters are involved in a skydive.
Cast members Lydia Kelly, Loui Batley and Zoe Lister, who play Lydia Hart, Sarah Barnes and Zoe Carpenter, were involved in the filming.
Mr Shelton said: "We had known that they would be coming about a week ago. It wasn’t particularly high profile as our staff was not really involved in the filming.
"We had one staff member show them around the area, but they mainly filmed near our storage area, not very close to our operations.
"They mainly filmed in the early evening after we had stopped flying so out work carried on as normal.
"All the filming they did was static so there was no flying involved. I believe they did use one plane to film but never flew in it."
Actress Loui Batley’s character has been a main member of the cast since joining in 2005, followed by Zoe Lister. Lydia Hart joined the soap this year.
The scenes filmed at Tatenhill are due to be aired for Hollyoaks Later — a late night edition of the soap — due to be screened over a week beginning on September 28.
