AN opportunity for young people not currently in education to join a pioneering new project has been unveiled by Staffordshire Fire Service.

The service is working in partnership with the Prince's Trust to offer courses to 16 to 25-year-olds in need of the skills and confidence required to get into work or training.

James Hettihewa-Young, programme manager for the Prince's Trust, said: "We are keen to support young people who are looking for work and want to put themselves in the best possible position to secure employment.

"It will also give them a taste of a work routine and the discipline and commitment that goes hand in hand with that."

There are 15 places available on the programme running from October 13 at Stafford Fire Station. Anyone interested in the course can call 01785 898532 or email j.hettihewa-young@staffordshirefire.gov.uk
