FIRE chiefs have launched a recruitment drive to boost the number of volunteers in East Staffordshire.
Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service revealed that it is looking for ‘enthusiastic, hard-working people who enjoy both face to face and written communication’ to become safety volunteers.
If successful, the select few would be involved in highlighting potential hazards at commercial premises and then flagging them up to the risk reduction and fire safety teams.
They would also be tasked with gathering feedback from private firms following incidents to which the service has responded.
Another part of their role would be to identify businesses that might be at risk of becoming the victim of a blaze and offering the relevant information and advice before an emergency occurs.
Successful applicants must commit to a minimum of eight hours every month.
Community safety lead Stephanie Court said: “There are so many benefits of becoming a volunteer with the service.”
