THESE pictures were taken at the regional finals of the Royal Yachting Association’s Honda Youth Rigid Inflatable Boats Championships at Foremarke Reservoir.

The juniors’ competition aims to find the country’s most skilled driver of high-speed powerboats.

Our picture shows winner George Baxter with powerboat instructor William Baldock.

George, 11, and Kayla Simmonds, 14, will go head to head against the 13 other regional age-group champions at the Honda RYA Youth RIB national grand final at the Southampton Boat Show in September, following their regional success in the eight to 12 and 13 to 16 age groups.

In the older age group, Burton Sailing Club’s Tom Coleman, who grasped the 2012 title ahead of Kayla, set the early pace on his home waters, completing his first run a full six seconds quicker than Kayla, including penalties.
