WORK to carry out more than £2 million worth of improvements on roads in Derbyshire has been approved.

County council chiefs have agreed to accept a Government grant, part of which will be invested into repairing pot holed and damaged roads in the south of the county.

Much of the cash will be spent on roads which have been ravaged by the elements and include the junction of A444 Burton Road and Woodville Road, in Overseal, Geary Lane, in Bretby, and the B5006 and A514 in Ticknall.

The authority's transport chief, Dean Collins, said the grant would a 'great boost' for motorists.
