PAUL Peschisolido could turn to former Scottish Premier League player Patrick Ada in a bid to improve Burton Albion’s defensive record.
Ada — a former Albion adversary from their Conference days — is training with the Brewers after being released by Kilmarnock.
And Peschisolido believes the 27-yearold Cameroon-born player could be the man to shore up a defence that has failed to keep a clean sheet in 14 league and cup games.
The Brewers boss said last night: “Patrick trained with us last week and will be joining in again this week.
“He’s a player I like a lot and someone who I’ve tried to sign in the past.
“I’ll be sitting down with him at some stage this week to have a chat about the possibility of him joining us for the rest of the season.”
Peschisolido is looking for a talismanic figure after seeing a run of eight games without a victory put a dent in Albion’s hopes of a place in the League Two playoffs.
And the 6ft Ada could fit the ball as he looks for a new club after leaving Kilmarnock as part of the Rugby Park club’s cost-saving measures.
The Brewers boss said: “The great thing about Patrick is his versatility. He can play centre-half but he can also play in a defensive midfield role.”
Peschisolido has scope to make a new signing after agreeing severance terms with veteran club skipper Darren Moore.
He has since signed former Derby County and Middlesbrough defender Chris Riggott, but there is no immediate prospect of a pay-as-you-play contract being triggered as the player battles a back injury.
Peschisolido tried to sign Ada last summer after the player had been released by League Two rivals Crewe Alexandra.
But the former Histon man jumped at the chance of playing in the Scottish Premier League.
However, after making his debut in a 1-1 draw with Dundee United at Tannadice last July, he made only two more appearances for Killie.
Ada’s previous clubs also include Barnet and Exeter City.
