BURTON ALBION 3, CHELTENHAM TOWN 1

Written byTOM SLOAN

RECORD-BREAKING Burton Albion bounced back into the League Two top three with a superb win over promotion rivals Cheltenham Town.

In dispatching the Robins 3-1 on Saturday, the Brewers set a new club record of nine straight home wins – beating the eight on the spin recorded when Nigel Clough’s side was on their way to promotion from the Conference.

Albion netted two goals in four minutes from Alex MacDonald and Robbie Weir before a second from Weir early in the second half made the game safe.

Byron Hamilton’s injury time header proved just a consolation for Cheltenham.
