GARY Rowett is expecing loan bids for some of his Burton Albion players in the next few weeks.
The emergency loan window shuts at 5pm on Thursday, November 28, and several of the Brewers squad could attract interest from other clubs.
Rene Howe and Adam Reed have both been on the fringes of late, while the club has already knocked back loan moves for Jack Dyer and Jimmy Phillips.
“I would anticipate one or two enquiries for players over the next couple of weeks before the loan window closes,” said Rowett, whose side is sitting in sixth spot in League Two.
“We’ll take each one on its own merits.
“We had an enquiry from a Conference club for Jack Dyer last week and had a few enquiries for Jimmy Phillips a couple of months ago.
“Both weren’t ideal for a number of reasons.
“Someone like Jack will be keen to go and play games.
“But the situation has got to be right.”
Phillips has forced his way back into Burton’s starting XI since the loan bid was rejected.
He has started the last three games – his best run in League Two in two seasons – and Rowett is glad he did not let the 24-year-old winger out on loan.
“I would never say no-one is available on loan,” said the manager. “Jimmy is the perfect example (of keeping someone instead of loaning them out).
“Had I let him go, he wouldn’t have got the chance he did four weeks later. And he’s stayed in the side.”
Rowett says no-one is out of his plans in the squad at present, with opportunities for everyone to stake a claim for a place in the first-team.
“There’s no pressure in the squad at the moment,” he said. “There’s no-one who can’t force their way into the side or the matchday squad.
“There’s no-one who can’t do something to get back in.
“But I’m aware there are seven or eight not in the team who will be hankering for first-team football.
“I would be disappointed if one or two of them weren’t knocking on my door.”
ALBION beat Evo-Stik NPL First Division South outfit Romulus 2-1 away on Tuesday night in the first round of the Birmingham Senior Cup.
They will face Leamington in the cup’s second round on a date to be confirmed.
