BURTON Albion boss Gary Rowett has scotched rumours linking him to former Arsenal wide-man Sanchez Watt.
Speculation linked the Brewers with the pacy 22-year-old starlet, but Rowett has made no move to offer a deal to the left-footed winger, who was released by the Gunners at the end of the season.
“There’s been absolutely no contact from me whatsoever to him or his agent,” said Rowett.
“I’ve seen him play and on his day he’s an excellent player but he’s not one I’ve spoken to.”
Watt, who had two loan spells at Leeds United as well as a spell at Colchester United last season, has been linked with moves to several clubs in League Two as he looks to kick-start his career.
However, a move nearer to the capital than Burton seems to be in the offing for him.
And the capital could be the destination for Jacques Maghoma.
The 26-year-old midfielder is due to move on from the Pirelli Stadium after his contract expired and Championship outfit Charlton Athletic are the latest outfit to be interested in him.
Reports of interest from Middlesbrough and League One Coventry City have quietened in recent weeks, while Rowett has given up hope of getting Maghoma - top-scorer last season with 18 goals - to sign a new contract.
