BURTON Albion star Rory Delap has retired from football at the age of 37.
The former Stoke City and Derby County man suffered a torn hamstring earlier this season and has struggled to overcome the injury.
Delap signed for Albion in the summer and made seven appearances, scoring once, before suffering the injury in September.
Boss Gary Rowett said: “Rory has been a consummate professional since he joined the club in the summer.
“His attitude and work ethic have been a credit to himself and the invaluable knowledge and experience that he’s passed onto the rest of the players here at Burton Albion has been priceless.
“He’s had a fantastic career and we’re honoured here at Burton that he’s finished his career with us.”
